p>Math barriers begin in elementary school. Without remediation, they continue through life. As students age, it becomes crucial that they have a simple, straight forward, and reliable system that is immediately accessible in their minds. TouchMath is that system. Critically acclaimed for its ability to get remedial students back on track, this multisensory step-by-step approach provides struggling learners the opportunity to understand and overcome previous barriers. Materials are organized by topic so busy teachers have the flexibility to pick and choose specific skills that need to be re- taught.
This session will include training in learning modalities as it relates to counting, skip counting, patterns, addition, and subtraction. Also discussed will be best practices for the classroom as well as the brain research behind Touch Math. The Touch Math system will help you reach different types of learners to build strong math skills. You do NOT need to own Touch Math kits in order to benefit from the training and implement the strategies in your classroom.
This training is appropriate for special education teachers who serve students with functional levels K-5th grade in math (regardless of grade level).
