TIANA BEARD, M.Ed. is a career educator located in the Washington, DC area. She has worked for over 17 years in Special Education, with 12 years in the classroom, and over four years in special education leadership. Her career has spanned Prince George County, MD, and both DC public and public charter schools, where she is currently the Senior Inclusion Manager at Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School. Tiana earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education & Special Education from Bowie State University in Maryland, and her Master of Education degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University in Arizona. Tiana has a strong passion for education, especially advocating for students with special needs and those who others write off as hopeless. As a Special Education Leader, she has gained a reputation in the DC Charter School circle as a knowledgeable source of information and willing resource when challenges arise. She has collaborated with the DC Special Education Cooperative on professional development projects.
Tiana is a mother of two beautiful children: a 20-year old cosmetologist, and a 10-year old boy in a Spanish Immersion program. She is active with her son’s Parent Teacher Organization, where she has served as Corresponding Secretary, Vice President, and is currently the Parliamentarian. Additionally, she is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., where she serves as the Sergeant-at-Arms for the Phi Sigma Alumnae Chapter in Washington, DC., as well as a national Mastermind Facilitator, national Youth Symposium Committee member, and Northeastern Regional Music Committee member. Further, she is a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians, where she is currently completing the Registered Parliamentarian credential.
