Parents Overview

The Co-op helps DC charter schools improve their programs for students with special needs.  We know that parents play a critical role in their child’s school success. We believe that parents can be a great resource to schools striving to improve the quality of their special education programs. The information in this section can help inform and empower parents to work collaboratively with schools.

Parent PREP: Special Education 411

The Co-op is thrilled to be partnering with The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) to offer a series of sessions designed for parents! Topics include: Parent Rights, Intro to Secondary Transition, and Student-led IEPs. Our hope is to provide practical information and resources that will help parents to better understand aspects of the special education process. This series of 6 community-based sessions and two webinar are open to all parents.  You can register for one or all of these sessions, but please note you need to register for each one separately, but they are all FREE. Hope to see you there!  Register today!
