Bridges PCS is now interviewing for 3 positions:
1. Maternity Leave sub – Preschool Special Education Lead Teacher in an inclusion classroom to start at the end of March 2011.
2. Preschool Inclusion Lead Teacher for an inclusion classroom for the 2011-2012 school year.
3. Preschool Summer Program Special Education Teacher, position starting in the end of June and goes through the end of July 2011. This is a 1 month part-time position from 8:00 am – 1:30 pm.
Bridges Public Charter School is an inclusive preschool and pre-kindergarten program for children ages three to five years old. Our mission is to provide a high quality early childhood educational program for all preschoolers, with and without special needs. We provide a developmentally appropriate, family and child-centered education that nurtures students and expands their skills and abilities, building a foundation for life-long learning. The Bridges Public Charter School’s curriculum supports the development of the whole child through a balance of investigation, play, and instruction.
The preferred candidate for the maternity Leave sub, Preschool Special Education Lead Teacher, in an inclusion classroom is certified in special education or has a Masters degree in special education or early childhood special education. The position is to cover the maternity leave of a teacher and will run from the of March through the end of the school year in June 2011. There is the possibility for renewal of a contract for the 2011-2012 school year. Bridges is also interviewing for a Preschool Inclusion Lead Teacher for an inclusion classroom for the 2011-2012 school year. Candidates interested in interviewing for the 2011-2012 school year can be trained in either early childhood education or early childhood special education. The summer program special education teacher must have a masters degree in early childhood special education or special education.
Qualifications for Inclusion or Lead Special Education Preschool Teacher:
All preschool special education lead teachers in an inclusion classroom or special education classroom will be “highly qualified” in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Highly qualified candidates have: completed an Bachelors degree and have certification in special education or certification in early childhood special education; or a Masters degree in special education or early childhood special education; or a Masters degree in special education or early childhood special education and certification in special education.
All preschool regular education lead teachers in an inclusion classroom will be “highly qualified” in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Highly qualified candidates have: completed an Bachelors degree and have passed the Praxis II exam required for HQT status in for early childhood certification; or have a Bachelors degree and certification in early childhood education; or a Masters degree in early childhood education; or a Masters degree in early childhood education and certification in early childhood education.
Duties will include:
*Teaching / Leading an inclusive or special education preschool classroom.
*Applying appropriate strategies to educate preschoolers with special needs, in compliance with State and Federal regulations.
*Developing and nurturing the emotional, cognitive and social abilities of the preschoolers.

Salary and Benefits:
An employee’s salary is based on position offered, educational level, certification(s), and years of experience. Contracts will be renewed according to evaluations and staff interest.
Benefits include: Part-time positions are not eligible for benefits. Benefits for full-time positions include – health care, and a retirement plan: 401-(k) or the continuation of the DCPS retirement plan.
